What do we want? Ubiquity! When do we want it? Now!

Projectplace started in 1998 which makes us one of the first Softwares as a Service. In the late 90's, when dial-up was still the prevailing method of connecting to the Internet, it was a cutting edge feature to be able to access your project from any computer (with an Internet connection). More than a decade later, that is no longer the case. Wifi, 3g, 4g, laptops, and above all smartphones mean that these days we are connected to the Internet practically all the time and the way we work has changed with it. We expect to be able to answer our email and keep up to date whether we are at home, in the office or on the move. This means that it did not come as a complete surprise to us that one of the most requested developments on Projectplace Ideas - our forum for customer feedback - is to...

Projectplace - Better handling of images in your projects and more: release 12th April

Tonight is release night! Here's what you can expect from tomorrow and a sneak of what we're doing in the future. I just got word from our Product Owner that the release has been successful... Image Preview in Documents First things first! This is something that we have had a lot of requests and votes for at Projectplace Ideas and I'm very happy that it has now been prioritised. We have also involved our Advisors in the design. We make it possible to preview images stored in the Document Tab in Projectplace. You can preview single images or flip through all images in a folder. You will also be able to lock, update and version manage images just like any other file in Projectplace. Here's a look at what you can expect tomorrow : [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VX_aFsHdnxk] If you want to have a say in future design and functionality, don't forget to engage at Projectplace Ideas. Projectplace - Collaborative Planning Pre-Study Update

During the end of last year we started an extensive pre-study about what we want to do with work planning and tracking. One of the conclusions was that we needed to support different time horizons and create a way to make the overall goal clearly communicated. We have started design on the overall master plan time horizon. This is where we define the overall goal or goals of the project and the milestones that will take us there. This view should be available to everyone in the project and should include motivation for the team to work towards the goals. We are currently thinking about having some sort of visualisation at the top of all project views that will include the overall goal, milestones status and dates. We want to make it easy for the project manager to enter and share the goals of the project in a way that feels natural...

Projectplace - the quiet release and a look ahead

The beginning of a new year and we have so many very exciting projects under way. There's a release tonight but there will be no noticable changes to the user interface or functionality in this release. So instead I thought I'd talk a little about what we are testing at the moment since there is some really interesting stuff in internal beta as of tomorrow. New Calendar The current Projectplace calendar is in need of an update and we are currently beta testing the new and updated version. This version will look nicer and contain some new functionality. Here's a teaser of what the new calendar will look like: Much sleeker look and you will be able to for instance drag and drop meetings to change the date and time, double-click in the calendar to create a new meeting and use more intuitive features. It will also look good in most web browsers....

Projectplace - Planning pre-study update

As you probably know, we have a pre-study under way for a new way of doing project planning in Projectplace. This is one of the biggest projects currently under way in our development. The last quarter of last year was spent getting a concept started and now we are in the process of sketching on this concept. The sketches will be shown to selected people such as Projectplace Advisors for feedback. If you are interested in participating in this kind of feedback, please go to Projectplace Advisors and sign up. This first round of feedback will probably be limited to Stockholm because the sketches are on paper at the moment and need to be physically moved around for you to give feedback. Later in the process we will involve more people and from further afield too. We are currently looking at planning on three time horizons: Master, Look Ahead, and Action. We...
